Stump Grinding in Windsor Green, Goodlettsville
Yes to Windsor Green. Four minutes from the shop, and we are in those courts often enough to know which ones a trailer can turn around in. Quotes come back the same day off a photo, scheduling runs about a week, less when it is storm damage.
First question here is not how much, it is whose
Windsor Green was laid out from 1985 onward as a run of short courts with the buildings pushed to the edges of their pads, and the grass between them mostly belongs to the association rather than to anyone's deed. That makes for a tidy neighborhood and a genuinely confusing stump.
The call we get sounds like this: the Bradford pear on the corner of the lawn split in a storm, the tree crew took it down and left the stump, and three months later nobody has done anything because the homeowner thinks it is HOA ground and the HOA thinks it is the homeowner's. Meanwhile the mowing contractor swerves around it every two weeks and the collar keeps getting shaved a little lower.
The second version is a white pine or a Norway spruce planted as a lot-line screen in the eighties, now sixty feet tall and dropped, with a stump sitting directly on the line between two units and two different opinions about it.
Sorting out who owns it, quickly
We do not need a survey to move forward, we need a yes from whoever is responsible. In practice that means one of three things. If the stump is inside your fenced pad or in a bed against your unit, it is yours and we can book it today. If it is out on the mowed common strip along Windsor Trace, the association authorizes and usually pays. If it straddles, the two parties agree to split it before we roll.
What helps is a photo with the nearest utility pedestal, driveway edge or downspout visible for reference. We have worked enough of these courts to make a decent call from that, and we will say plainly when we think it is not yours to pay for.
We have no interest in grinding a stump and then chasing two parties for the invoice, so this gets settled first, every time.
Getting between two units on Brenton, Cambridge and Digby Court
The gaps between buildings in here run tight, and half of them have a condensing unit, a hose bib and a downspout extension in the pinch point. The narrow machine is the default for anything behind a unit rather than the exception.
Parking is the other half of it. These courts were designed when households owned fewer vehicles, and a weekday afternoon can find every space full. A grinder trailer needs about forty feet of straight to unhitch and turn, so we generally ask a customer to hold one visitor space for the morning, or we come at eight before the street fills.
On a couple of the deeper courts we stage out on Conference Drive and walk the machine in. That adds ten minutes each way and it beats blocking a fire lane.
Pine and spruce, and what they do to a wheel
The eighties screening rows in here are white pine and Norway spruce, and they grind differently from the pears and dogwoods out front. The wood is resinous, so pitch builds on the teeth and the wheel starts riding rather than cutting, which means stopping to clean it midway through what looks like an easy stump.
The spoil behaves differently too. Conifer grindings mat into a wet felt instead of loose chips, and left on a lawn they will smother grass much faster than hardwood will. On common ground we take that away without asking.
Sap staining is the one people forget. A pine or spruce stump ground within a few feet of a concrete walk or a driveway will spot it, and once it dries in it does not wash off easily. Where the stump is close to concrete we tarp it before the wheel turns, which takes two minutes and saves an argument.
What we do in Windsor Green
Windsor Green questions we hear most
The stump is on the grass the HOA mows. Can I just hire you myself?
You can, and plenty of people do to get it over with. Understand that you are paying for work on ground you do not own, and that some associations want notice before anyone runs equipment on common area. A short email to the property manager costs nothing and protects you. If they would rather handle it themselves, send them to us and we will quote them directly.
Will a machine fit between our unit and the neighbor's?
Usually. The narrow grinder needs a hair under three feet of clear travel, and the tight spot is almost never the gap between walls, it is the air conditioner pad or the gas meter sticking into it. Take a photo standing at the front corner looking down the gap and we will tell you before we book whether it goes through there or comes around the back.
How much for a pine stump that is about two feet across?
Two-foot pine in an accessible spot runs roughly $225 to $325. Pine is softer than the oak we grind elsewhere in Goodlettsville but the pitch slows the wheel and the cleanup takes longer, so it does not come in as cheap as the diameter suggests. Several in a row along an old screen line drops the per-stump price meaningfully.
We are trying to sell and the inspector flagged it. How fast can you be here?
If you send a photo today you will have a price today, and a standard grind books three to five working days out because that is how long the state locate takes. Where there is a closing date involved, tell us the date when you call. We have moved plenty of jobs up for people under contract and it costs nothing to ask.
